On July 13, 1985, Big Brutus was dedicated as "a Museum and Memorial Dedicated to the Rich Coal Mining History in Southeast Kansas. Joe, WØMQY, Bart, WØIIT, and I operated at Brutus during the afternoon of 24 Aug 2008. Joe had obtained permission for us to set up near the visitor center. The weather was ideal, but the bands weren't. However we had such a nice afternoon playing radio that we've decided to make it an annual trek out onto the Kansas prairie, perhaps in conjunction with another QRP event, maybe Salmoncon or Lobstercon.
